Posset is a Milk Drink, Taken at night to help with relaxation. Posset was used often in medieval times, and this recipe dates to the 14th Century.

1 cup Milk

Grated Nutmeg or 1 tsp. Nutmeg Spice Powder

Heat the milk in a pan. As it boils, pour it carefully into a mug (you may want to wear an oven mitt)

Grate a quarter of a whole nutmeg, or sprinkle the powdered spice over the milk; wait about 30 seconds, then stir the nutmeg into the milk.

Sip Slowly and Enjoy!

If You do not drink cow’s milk, You could try this with goats milk, maybe almond milk or coconut milk, but I’m not sure how it would taste and if the benefits would be as effective

This Herbal Floor Wash is an “additive” to water used to clean floors.

To make enough for two applications use:

4 tablespoons liquid soap or detergent

8 to 16 tablespoons white distilled vinegar

12 tablespoons of herbal brewed tea (make it strong) I used mint in the example above

Combine the ingredients in the container of Your choice. When ready to wash the floor, add half of the mixture to a bucket of water, swirl the water a little, just to get a bit of lather. Mop as normal. Use the second half of the wash, the next time You mop the floor/s

You can half the recipe to make only one application, or even triple it, to make more.

I’m going to include some information on how to make “Traditional” prayer ties, but In My version, I’m using fabric squares that either correspond to a chakra and/ or prayer intention. Purple is an example. It corresponds to the “Crown Chakra”, the zodiac sign of Pisces, the planet of Mercury and the Arch Angel Uriel. So the purple prayer tie could be used to balance the crown chakra, or send prayer requests to Arch Angel Uriel, who is the Angel of Peace. Gold is another color associated with Uriel. Just a few of other correspondences to the color purple are: Protection, Comfort, Motivation, Inspiration, Healing.

Traditional Prayer Ties are usually made from only white, red, and/or yellow cloth.

Now, On with the Directions:

Cut the cloth or fabric into Your desired sized square. 4×4 is good, but You can make them any size, keeping in mind, they are going to be tied in a tree.

Prayer energy or intention is offered into the tobacco by holding the tobacco in Your hands and empowering it with Your Intention for health, peace, forgiveness, love, balance of chakra or whatever Your reason may be for offering the prayer, but it must be done with only the best intentions.

In tradition, the tobacco is held in the left hand because it’s closer to the heart than the right hand.

When the prayers have been offered into the tobacco, place the tobacco in the center of Your square cloth. Draw up the four corners to form a pouch and tie it with string or yarn. I like to use cloth and string or yarn that matches. Leave several inches of string, so You can tie Your prayer tie into a tree.

In tradition, the prayer tie is smudged and offered to the Creator, invoking the power of the elements. In the case of the Purple prayer tie, I will offer it to the Creator and the Arch Angel Uriel.

Tie Your prayer tie to the branch/es of a Tree. I could get into all kinds of details on how long to leave the tie in the tree, what day to place the tie into the tree, what moon cycle, but, in My humble opinion, if Your intentions are good, as they should be, the day of the week/month, moon cycles are only added bonuses, or a boost to the intention. Nothing against “spells” but spells and prayers, though in some ways similar, are not the same thing. Days of the week and moon cycles are more important to spells.

I will try and leave My prayer ties in the tree for a month, but depending on weather and other circumstance, realize they may come down on their own. After I take them down, I will release them to the universe through either fire, (burning), water (by placing them in a river) or to earth (buried) You could also hang them in a shrub or bush in the wilderness, away from Your home,(air) but I prefer one of the other methods because they are easier. The traditional method is through fire.

My prayer ties are offered for My own benefit, or for those who give permission or request prayers. If You want to create a prayer tie that is to benefit someone other than Yourself, please ask permission first. I know this is not possible in the case of someone who may be very ill, but You can also ask a relative of theirs. Use Your good judgement. I would offer a prayer in the name of My family members because I already know they would either request to be added or grant permission, having talked/spoken about the subject matter previously.

Side Note: Though not a part of traditional prayer ties, You may consider adding a crystal or gemstone to Your prayer tie, that corresponds with the color or intention, in the example of purple, I would add amethyst. If You would like more information about color correspondences, either email me, or comment here. Thanks! I will be adding pictures of the finished prayer ties later.

Ingredients You Will Need.

Castile Soap In Bar form ( I used Kirk’s)

Purified or Distilled water (3 cups)

Essential or Skin Safe Fragrance Oil

Grate Castile soap in a large bowl until you have one cup (packed tightly). Heat the 3 cups of water until it’s almost boiling. Add the grated soap, turn off the heat, and whip with a fork or whisk until the soap is completely melted. Let sit until cool, then add about 50 drops of essential oil. You may need to add more essential or fragrance oil, but you should stop adding fragrance when the soap is heavily scented. As an option You can leave out the oils because the castile soap does have some fragrance, unless it’s unscented.

Using a funnel, add the liquid soap to a bottle, cap and shake vigorously to mix in the oil/s. Label and use as needed. You may need to re-shake the soap before each use.

This is probably My first Valentine’s Day where I haven’t created some traditional items I share with other’s every Valentine’s Day. Things have just been too hectic and I’ve been pre-occupied with things that are more important, so I thought I would try and share a little love on here. I don’t want cupid to fire me.

Here is a recipe for Sweeheart’s Aphrodisiac Herbal Tea

4 cups distilled or purified water
1/4 cup red hibiscus flowers
2 tablespoons lemongrass or lemon balm
2 tablespoons rosehips
1/4 cup rose petals
peel of 1 medium orange cut into slices
Sweetener of Your Choice (I use honey)

In a medium saucepot, bring the water to a boil, then remove from heat. Add all ingredients except sweetener, cover and all mixture to steep for about 45 minutes until very deep red.

Strain, add sweetener to taste, and stir to blend. Pour into medium sized pitcher, chill for a couple of hours and serve. Store refrigerated, covered for 2 days.

In the past, my traditions have included, Chocolate-Cherry heart shapped truffles and Flower Bouquets, made from carnations in the shape of a heart. I will try to find pictures of them both and post them below. I just remembered I have some vintage valentine cards I would like to share here, but will probably have to scan and post them tomorrow.

Don’t forget to let other’s know you love them, not only on Valentine’s Day, but every day you can!

Note: I use dried rose petals from an herbal company, they are organic and have no pesticide, this still makes a great tea even without the rose petals

First off…Shame on Me for not updating or adding something to my blog sooner..guess I’ve had too many things going at one time.

Now onto the subject of Christmas Trees….do you prefer real or fake? Big, Small or In between?

I’ve had both, but honestly prefer a real tree. I have a very large, beautiful fake tree, it goes together in three pieces and already has lights on it. It is so big, it involves lots of furniture moving and rearranging, something I’m not too fond of.

It left me thinking how for a long time I’ve wanted a real, potted tree that I can re-plant and was also thinking about the year I had a little (real) tree outside that I decorated with all edible ornaments for the wildlife. It was such a cute tree, someone wanted to buy it from me.

This is the year! I have my potted tree, it is a Carolina Sapphire, wich will grow in Florida. It is much smaller than I’m used to, but put it inside an old basket I have and it sits on top of an old cedar chest. So far it’s just adorable, I’m glad I saved the vintage Christmas ornaments I found months ago in a thrift store and didn’t sell them, they look great on the tree, and it just needs a few finishing touches…pics will come : )

A Carolina Sapphire is much different from the typical northern trees that you find in most households. I still had my mind on a tree outside for the wildlife, when I wandered into the garden center of the walmart they had fraiser fir trees 6-7 feet for $15…that’s right $15 over half off the original price. Needless to say, I couldn’t resist, so now I have my “outside” tree and am working on the ornaments for the wild life now..it’s certainly a green Christmas around here and hopefully My little Carolina Sapphire will grow and thrive and help provide a permanent place for the wildlife to have fun and find shelter.

The only down side to having a potted tree, it needs more water than a cut tree does, I’ve been watering and watching carefully because we thought the bag that we put around the pot was secure, only for me to find water on my cedar chest : ( it’s old but in rough shape anyhow. Luckily we didn’t have the tree decorated yet, had to take it outside, remove the basket, dry the basket then make sure it was fully lined with plastic, put the tree back inside the basket, bring it back in and decorate..yes this sounds like lots of trouble, but I would rather do this than move furniture, now we know there will be no more leakage, and will have a permanent remembrance of our first “little” potted tree.

Pictures to follow, and hopefuly more frequent blog updates.

Happy Holidays to Everyone!

But……………………………..

Don’t Blast My Ears Off!

This day of celebrating “freedom” and “independence” is a great day to adopt the philosophy live and let live, but there comes a time when freedom crosses the bounds of stupidity..or maybe ignorance in this situation.

I love the pretty sight of fireworks and will ohh and ahh along with everyone else, but safety and consideration seem to fly out the window on this holiday and when dealing with fire works and explosive devices….the hospital ER’s have a busy night ahead of them..please be safe and above all ….do not let children play with fireworks..I know more than one person with lifetime disfigurments caused by fireworks.

In regard to consideration…I wish I could address the jackass down the street…I know name calling isn’t the best thing for me to do…but from time to time I call the kettle “black”

Since living here I’ve put up with his in-consideration…he sets off some kind of explosive devices that I am sure are illegal…he lives a good piece down the road but these things are so loud they actualy vibrate and shake the glass windows on my house.

I don’t see that this serves any purpouse other than making an absurdly loud noise, not to mention..it’s dangerous…who wants their view of the “real” fireworks ruined by this kind of ignorance? This is a typical case of little boys and their big toys…he wants to make something go “bang”…and send a shock wave of this crap through the neighborhood

I have PTSD and even before that diagnosis was very sensitive to loud noise…but in order to let this ignorant neighbor’s own freedom ring..I’m going to do what I have for the past 7 years…break out the ear plugs…and if I can’t find them…some cotton balls..the only positive note: He seems to know when to “stop”… I hope that is the case this year.

Happy 4th of July to Everyone…have fun but use some common sense!
